Maranjani grabs silver of Asian Canoeing Championship

TEHRAN, Nov. 07 (MNA) – The Iranian female canoeist, Fatemeh Maranjani, managed to bag a silver medal at 2015 Asian Canoeing Championship, Indonesia.

The Iranian national canoeing team present at the event consists of Fatemeh Karamjani and Ali Ojaghi from the western city of Kermanshah.

Attending the women’s 500-meter Canoe Single, Karamjani competed with rivals from India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Singapore, Korea and Thailand to second in the second place bagging the silver medal of the competitions.

Karamjani finished with a time of 2 minutes and 26 seconds and 460 mili-second after the Vietnamese canoeist to become the vice-champion.

Ali Ojaghi, the other Iranian athlete, also had a satisfactory performance ranking 6th in 1000-m Canadian canoe race.

The Asian Canoeing Championship, a Canoeing championship organized by the Asian Canoeing Confederation for competitors from the Asian countries, kicked off in the city of Palembang, Indonesia on November 4 and will wrap up on November 8.
